Eh, you could make a flow chart about why cake is better than pie, or vice versa, and I'd be amused by it! :P

For each writer who's blogs I read that reply to my crappy posts, I squeal with delight and have a joygasm.

Thanks for the advice -- and the perspective. Point #2 was something I never even considered.

If you can write up a concise argument against the additional officer promotions in your officer forums (or sent in PM to the Guild Master, for those that are not officers), perhaps the leadership will listen. Just take each of their points that they bring up for why they think there should be class-specific officers, and counter them with logic, even to the point of saying "but that's what this officer we already have is for." For those more emotionally driven, be sure to remind them that you understand their frustrations and where they're coming from, but that their idea of promoting more officers just to have the classes in the ranks won't help.

1) the offending raiders will come up with a new excuses for their poor performance, as the entire "not my class" argument is merely an excuse for laziness,

2) you will very likely end up with poor officers in the ranks because of slim pickings among a specific class (or multiple), making guild leadership decisions that much messier and more difficult.

The best thing you can possibly do, as a guild, is to either g-kick the offending players, or recruit new players in their place, refusing to take them to raids until they improve and stop being lazy leeches. It will result in either the players finally getting better through research, gearing, attention, etc, or it will result in their replacement with a stronger player, either of which are better for the guild's progression.

Good luck :)

He knows how I feel about it, but given that I'm not an officer, nor am I really that active, he doesn't give much weight to my opinion on the matter. I tried to explain it to him, he just said, "I don't see what the problem is." *shrug*

I wish it was my call. I'm honestly dead-set against it. But others (guess who) are really pushing for it, and I feel like I dont even have a chance in argument, so I may just back down and help the newbies get used to the ugly side of people that they'll find.

Did you tell your husband this?
